I never need an explanation to call. I could just pick up the phone and dial. No matter how long ago we last spoke. Whether it was days, months or even years. Once connected, it always feels as if we picked up from where we last left off. The tone is natural. One that never feels forced through some sense of obligation. The comfort level to speak what’s on our minds is just as strong had we been in touch everyday. Through all the uncertainties in life, this relationship feels as if it can survive the test of time. By enduring confrontations it has strengthened and matured our bond. By creating memories it has flourished and deepened our bond. The feeling is indescribable; one who is blessed to have it knows it. Shed from all ego, pride; its bare essence is love and respect for each other. Wanting the best and only the best for each other. No jealousy, no envy. Just love.
That’s how I feel towards all my friends that I consider to be my closest. They know who they are and we all feel blessed to be in each other’s lives. Through good times and bad we support each other. We offer our advice or simply lend our sympathetic ear to listen with no judgment. We keep ourselves grounded. The world may say things to us that we want to hear but only do our closest friends tell us how it really is in a respectful way. We are not each other’s “Yes men” who agree with whatever one of us says; we have our unique opinions. Everyone brings forth something different. A new way to approach a situation. Through discussions, we become knowledgeable. Through sharing different experiences, we become wiser.
People come into your life. You become friends or acquaintances. In both cases these people are here to teach you something about yourself. It may not be apparent at first, but every person brings something to your life. Either they enrich it. Or they impoverish it. No matter if these people are in your life for only a season of time or stand the test of friendship and remain for a reason, the decision lies in your hands should you chose to continue to surround yourself with them.
To my best friend Nayandeep.
With you I never feel the need to have any other. You have been just the way you are through out. And I love you for this. You have supported me on my right's and stopped me on my wrong's. The camaraderie we share is one in a million. Now that we are away, I miss you because many come n go but that one who is their with me throughout is you.
Oodles of love to my one in my million- Nayan.
